Bon Weekend, A Great Gatsby Wedding plus Couture Cocktails

I hope your weekend has started off fabulous!
I fell head-over-heels for Kate Moss’ incredibly romantic wedding photos.  In early July, Kate married The Kills guitarist, Jamie Hince, close to her home in Cotswold, England.
Kate and the children look angelic in this photo!
The church looks like one from a fairytale.
I had to include this photo of Kate’s mirrored dressing table.
Moss ~ “I wanted it to be kind of dreamy and 1920s, when everything is soft‐focus,” Moss explains of the ceremony. “The Great Gatsby. The code name was GG for a while. That light and that kind of fun decadence. It’s rock‐’n’‐roll Great Gatsby!”
… and a champagne tower!  I’m swooning!
For the full interview with Kate Moss, pick up the September issue of Vogue, on newsstands August 23.
Couture Cocktails ~

I thought this champagne cocktail would be a perfect fit for Kate’s ultra romantic fête.

Lavender Champagne Cocktail

1/8 cup sugar (see note below)
1/4 tablespoon dried lavender
1 bottle of dry Champagne
Fresh lavender sprigs, for garnish
1. Bring sugar and 1/2 cup water to a boil in a saucepan, stirring to dissolve sugar. Stir in dried lavender. Remove from heat. Let cool completely. Strain out lavender. Refrigerate syrup until ready to serve (up to 1 month).
2. Pour about 6 ounces Champagne and 1 1/2 teaspoons syrup into each flute. Garnish each with a lavender sprig.
Ps:  I prefer superfine sugar is also known as bar sugar (so-named for use in mixing alcoholic drinks) or baking sugar. It is granulated sugar with unusually small crystals.
Wishing you a beautiful weekend!  xoxo, B

This recipe for lavender Champagne is featured in the Fall 2007 issue of Martha Stewart Weddings.

    What a lovely cocktail.
I love the photos that have just come out, but it shows you what lighting, styling and a great photographer can do – in all of the pap shots, she looked so ordinary, these have taken her wedding to another level.
